The heritage wheatbelt town of Beverley is 130 kilometres east of Perth on the Avon River. Founded in 1838, Beverley is one of Western Australia's oldest settlements.
Today Beverley is a quiet agricultural town with a proud history - for visitors it is a chance to experience life in a heritage country town. Stroll down the main street and admire the variety of architectural styles. Go for a flight in a glider or try out the golf course and take the kids to explore the banks of the Avon River. Visit the Station Gallery and meet the artist in residence, then enjoy a coffee or a beer and a good country meal.Avondale Discovery Farm is now open to the public every third weekend and every long weekend from 10am - 4pm.There is picnic grounds with free BBQs, vintage machinery museum, homestead museum, historic oregon stables and of course the resident Clydesdales Robbie and Comet.Saturday mornings will feature the volunteers in action repairing, maintaining and possibly even driving some of the tractors. Why not make a day trip, Avondale is situated only 6kms from town. If your a a keen sports fan we have football, netball, hockey, horseriding, motocross and tractor pulls too.The Beverley Horse and Pony Club have the rallies set for their season, so if you want to see some great horse riding be sure to catch one of their Sunday Rally Days. The Beverley Redbacks Football Club have commenced their season with pleasing results. The Redbacks Netball Team has a new line up this year and are looking like a tough team to beat.The Redbacks Ladies Hockey team are about to start their season with in the next month.

The Beverley Soaring Society (BSS) is the largest gliding club in Western Australia and also the closest to metropolitan Perth, being less than two hours away by car.
They have a large club fleet of three two-seat aircraft, two single seat aircraft and two Pawnee tow planes. Their members also have some 37 privately owned gliders at our airfield. They have a panel of qualified, highly-experienced instructors are rostered on Friday, Saturday and Sunday of each weekend to teach the skills of soaring to anyone from a teenager through to airline pilots with thousands of hours experience. We also offer Air Experience Flights if you just want to experience the thrill of gliding.
The club has a strong cross-country flying ethic and ranks near the very top of the world in the On-line Gliding Competition (OLC). Our performance coaches provide advanced soaring and cross-country skills to members.

Avondale Discovery Farm. Just six kilometres west of Beverley, Avondale Discovery Farm offers visitors a chance to see a working farm. Find out about agricultural practices at the Landcare display centre and take a drive trail through the property seeing many agricultural activities. Take a gentle walk on the nature trail where you are likely to see kangaroos and emus, explore the 1890s homestead and have a look at the extensive agricultural machinery shed. There is a picnic area with free gas BBQs. Avondale is open every third weekend of the month and during school holidays.

Pack a picnic (or stock up at the local bakery) and head to the river, or the picturesque Yenyenning Lakes to soak up the scenery. Put your walking shoes on and hike up County Peak to enjoy the panoramic views of the region. You can find more information about walk trails at the Beverley Visitors Centre. Beverley is noted for its interesting architecture, with examples ranging from the colonial period of the late 1800s to the futuristic geodesic dome. Beverley is beautiful anytime of year but during August and September the district comes alive with flowering canola so don't forget your camera!
