Nestled in the Great Southern region of Western Australia, the Shire of Cranbrook offers a range of opportunities. With a blend of productive farmlands, picturesque scenery and an ideal lifestyle, the Shire is as diverse in its businesses and activities as it is in its landscapes. 320km south of Perth and less than an hour’s drive north of Albany you will find our towns of Cranbrook, Tenterden and Frankland River. Traditional broad scale agriculture, wineries and vineyards, national parkland and rolling hills leading into the majestic Stirling Ranges – it is all in the Shire of Cranbrook.
There is a lot to see and do in the Shire of Cranbrook. In this diverse Shire of vineyards and Wineries in the West, to spectacular agricutural areas with their pink lakes and blue skys, to the rainbow of wildflowers in the spring.You can visit the townsites of Cranbrook, Frankland River and Tenterden. You will find Caravan Parks in both Cranbrook and Frankland River. Cranbrook is an RV friendly town and recently hosted the CMCA Albany Rally staging point welcoming over 150 RV visitors to the community in October 2015.
Sukey Hill Lookout
Located 5 km east of the town site, off the Salt River Road. Take advantage of the view to the salt lakes to the north and east, farmlands to the west and panoramic view of the Stirling Range to the South. The area is abundant in wildflowers in spring.
Cranbrook Museum
The museum was once the station Masters House. Built around 1889 it is the oldest house still standing in town and is located in Gathorne St. It is the home to local memorabilia. It is listed on the Shire of Cranbrook’s Heritage Inventory. The Fettlers Hut, together with the laundry and toilet was added in the 1970’s. 27 Mile Dam
Located on the Frankland Cranbrook road, just a short distance from Frankland River, the 27 Mile Dam is a historical site, well signed, explaining the historic importance of these stock watering dams. Drovers travelling between Cranbrook and Frankland River stopped at these watering sites whilst droving livestock to market.
